COSMO CONSULT takes the industrial value chain digital

Björn Lorenz03/23/2017

The COSMO CONSULT Group, one of the world's leading Microsoft Dynamics partners with its more than 2,000 customers, has presented a scenario within the framework of the Digital Factory of the HANNOVER MESSE 2017 (Hall 7/C 40) that brings alive the trade fair's motto of "Integrated Industry - Creating Value". As it did last year with its "digital construction site", COSMO CONSULT has received this year's "INNOVATIONSPREIS-IT" of the Initiative Mittelstand, an SME innovation award, this time for its cc|digitalfactory365 scenario.

This is the second time in a row that a COSMO CONSULT has won one of the most important IT industry awards for an industry 4.0 solution scenario. In contrast to last year, this year the focus has been extended to the manufacturing industry, not least through research and development done in a cooperation network with well-known companies. The digital processes and applications presented are aimed both at classic plant manufacturers and at industrial SMEs as well as at all companies that support their products during their entire life cycle and want to offer fitting product-related services as part of new business models.

The content of the presentation concentrates on different digital processes in the areas of security, smart factories, smart logistics and predictive maintenance. Using intelligent, connected products equipped with sensors, the optimization potential achievable with modern Microsoft technology is demonstrated. One important aspect of this is augmented reality. The pump manufacturer EDUR from the city of Kiel has been commissioned to produce a pump that provides status messages via built-in sensors. An object tracker is used to continuously monitor the status. After installation, the sensors inform the pump manufacturer of imminent malfunctions. Malfunctions can then be prevented by predictive maintenance. The mechanic on the scene uses Microsoft's HoloLens augmented reality glasses to represent the parts that are defective or worn out.

COSMO CONSULT is also presenting other reference installations from current customer projects and solutions that are ready for market and in regular operation. They can be seen at the exhibition stand of the VDMA (Hall 7, D 28) and the EDUR-Pumpenfabrik (Hall 15, G 43), for example.

The cooperation network is also especially featured, which has contributed significantly to the successes. Along with COSMO CONSULT, its members include Microsoft, BOSCH, Fraunhofer IFF, Dräger, Euromicron and Autodesk. "In Hannover we are demonstrating how we can optimally support companies with the digital transformation of industry through our cloud services and solutions based on Microsoft technologies. We can do this because we provide consulting, technology and tools from a single source," says Uwe Bergmann, CEO of the COSMO CONSULT Group. A Microsoft Partner, COSMO CONSULT is also demonstrating temporary solutions, which are primarily of interest in the area of maintenance, such as digital shutdown management at a refinery. Solutions for asset lifecycle management with predictive maintenance and other after-sales processes are also part of the exhibition program.
