Guest Topic: A Look into the Future: VELO DE VILLE and the Migration to the Microsoft BC Cloud

Over the past decades, at VELO DE VILLE we’ve passionately pursued a clear vision: to create bicycles and e-bikes tailored to the individual wishes of our customers—custom-made and built to the highest quality standards. This philosophy, now driven by more than 300 employees, is reflected in every bike that leaves our production line. Behind the scenes, however, our digital infrastructure plays a key role. We are now preparing to take a major step forward: the transition from Microsoft NAV 2018 to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC). 

The growth of our company and the increasing complexity of our production processes require a more powerful and flexible ERP system. As a manufacturer specializing in custom production, our ERP must be capable of managing the virtually endless configuration options of our bicycles. 

Migrating to the Microsoft BC Cloud allows us to flexibly scale our capacity based on seasonal demand while benefiting from a leaner, more efficient IT infrastructure. 

We also anticipate stronger synergies between the various Microsoft applications we already use, such as CRM, Power BI, Power Automate, Excel, Teams, and Outlook. This tighter integration will streamline our processes and improve scalability—particularly in terms of data management and storage. By standardizing interfaces and leveraging data lakes, we’ll be able to store and manage data more efficiently and future-proof our infrastructure. 

Naturally, switching to a new ERP system brings challenges. Our processes are designed for highly individualized production, where every step must be perfectly coordinated. There's no room for errors—whether in ordering, production, or delivery. Our biggest concern was that a system change might disrupt these complex workflows.
