Company profile
Visconto is a joint service company of Stadtwerke Ansbach GmbH, Licht- Kraft- und Wasserwerke Kitzingen GmbH, the energy supplier Lohr-Karlstadt and Umgebung GmbH & Co. KG, as well as E-werk Sachsenwald GmbH. They were founded in 2010. VISCONTO employees centrally take care of customer care, billing and data management tasks at the headquarters.
Initial situation
The utility companies need an up-to-date overview of the respective billing situation analogous to the individual deadlines. For this purpose, readout data must be correlated with contract data and evaluated according to various aspects. In addition, the billing service provider runs a call center that handles end-user requests for contracts, prices, current consumption, and more. Here, too, the employees need a quick overview of the respective data in order to provide precise information.
So far, the required data has been retrieved from the SAP® supplier solution implemented by VISCONTO and matched with customer service data to get real, reliable figures. This would take two to three hours and thus clearly too long for the quality requirements of the service providers. A query about the payroll run of all the headquarters for monthly reporting was not possible for performance reasons. To do this, individual queries had to be compiled manually into a complete overview in Excel. This was not only time consuming, but also prone to error.
Solution
COSMO CONSULT BI therefore recommended the company the business discovery solution QlikView. Unlike traditional BI solutions, which are essentially IT-driven, QlikView focusses on the users with its business discovery concept. The solution has an app-like structure and offers the possibility of compiling information according to your needs and sharing it with others. Not only the solution was convincing, but also the integration partner. “COSMO CONSULT really impressed us with its combination of industry expertise and in-depth expertise in SAP® and QlikView,” Krug confirmed. “Despite time consuming authorizations with the responsible SAP® IT service provider, the entire implementation of QlikView took only six weeks. If adaptations of the applications or new developments are necessary, they will be completed by COSMO CONSULT within a very short time.
Areas of use and benefits
The employees are currently evaluating SAP® data from about 200,000 end customer contracts. In addition to analyses of the individual payroll runs per headquarter, overall monthly reports were implemented by which information from other systems is evaluated as well. This includes data from the mySQL database of the telephone system, historical data from Excel, and a system developed by VISCONTO for workflow processes. Subsequently, clear reports including graphics is available within minutes.
“A great load was taken off our minds with QlikView,” concluded Krug. “We are now able to act much faster and in a more targeted fashion in many areas.”
Future
In future, it is planned to train VISCONTO employees to the extent that these tasks can also be assumed internally. In addition, quality assurance and process optimization projects, as well as the German Renewable Energy Act (EEG) topic and the associated messages to the transmission system operators in QlikView are going to be shown.
