"In some areas, such as logistics, the level of individual customization is relatively high. If we become increasingly oriented towards the standard, we can realize future updates more cost-effectively."
Jürgen Hartleb, Head of IT at PETKUS Technologie GmbH
PETKUS is a company with a rich tradition and has always been well-connected internationally. Founded in the middle of the 19th century, by the 1880s the company was already exporting machinery for the processing of grain and seed to Russia. By 1907, more than 50,000 machines had been shipped to 30 different countries around the world.
Today, PETKUS employs more than 350 people worldwide in 23 centers for sales, service and engineering. This means that the company is represented by local contact points on almost every continent of the world. The focus of attention used to be on traditional mechanical engineering, but today it is on technological solutions in the field of facility construction designed to meet customer-specific requirements. PETKUS builds turnkey seed and silo facilities, as well as feed and flour mills, around the world. In addition, the company modernizes existing facilities in the sense of retrofitting. One of its major competitive advantages is that at PETKUS machine development, mechanical engineering, engineering and technological know-how are brought together under one roof.
PETKUS is particularly distinguished by its innovative thinking. The company has always set the course for progress and development at an early stage. PETKUS is the only company in the industry that has a subsidiary dedicated exclusively to the research and development of new technologies in addition to the traditional design and development department. The ROEBER Institute specializes in optoelectronics, aerodynamics and disinfection.
PETKUS Engineering, another specialized division, concentrates on international customers with its expertise and experience. The division is closely linked to the local offices abroad as an industrial partner in order to make the best possible use of the different conditions and resources.
For many years, PETKUS had been using Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 to manage the various business areas and processes. With the upgrade to the current 2017 version, the company wants to make central processes more efficient. In addition to this, as a plant manufacturer it is moving closer to the software standard. "In some areas, such as logistics, the level of individual customization is relatively high. If we become increasingly oriented towards the standard, we can realize future updates more cost-effectively," emphasizes Jürgen Hartleb, Head of IT at PETKUS Technologie GmbH. The COSMO CONSULT Group has been entrusted with the implementation of the IT project.
The industry solution cc|project for project-oriented manufacturing companies played a decisive role. The add-on module neatly integrates all project processes in one place.
In logistics, the industry solutions cc|logistics and cc|transport replace highly customized processes. The data exchange between design programs and Dynamics NAV will be simplified through the add-on module cc|CAD integration. In the area of financial accounting, the OPPlus module is provides additional functions for payment transactions, company taxes and open item management.
After the project has been completed, PETKUS will have six clients and around 100 connected users working with the new program version.
