"The web client is especially useful. This gives field staff and external personnel direct, worldwide access to all important information. At the same time, the management can get a quick overview of the current state of business at any time."
Mag. Heinz Wymetal-Fleischmann, CEO of englisch dekor
The textile house englisch dekor is one of Europe's leading suppliers of fire-resistant textiles. Founded in Vienna in 1866, the family business is now being run by the fourth generation.
Whereas its emphasis used to be on the trading business, today it assumes responsibility for design and quality. Every year englisch dekor develops more than 350 designs, which are delivered to more than 80 countries. englisch dekor currently employs around 30 people.
For a long time, the textile house used the Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP system in combination with service LS Retail for staff in the field. In addition to a few other functions, the add-on module allowed staff on the road to work offline if there was no internet connection. However, its solution had become outdated, and the maintenance costs were correspondingly high. Reports, documents and the interface could only be adjusted partially, if at all, to new requirements. Because important functions - such as the automatic import of account statements - were lacking, data entry was often time consuming. The company started looking for a way to comprehensively modernize its ERP system. The user interface and reporting system needed to be role-based and new functions had to be integrated.
The contract was awarded to the COSMO CONSULT Group, Europe's leading Microsoft Dynamics partner. The project team first decided to update the software to the latest version of the program. Since this already had role-based clients, the user interface and reporting portfolio would be able to be adapted to the different requirements of the different workstations. The individual departments themselves always determine which information Dynamics NAV displays on the personal dashboards of employees. Thanks to the freely configurable interface, the contents of the cockpits can be set up in just a few steps. Another advantage of the new program version is its improved integration with the Microsoft Office world: For example, it is now much easier to refine reports in Excel or to insert information from the ERP system into a Word document.
The previously lacking function of importing account statements has been implemented via the add-on module OPplus. It also adds important functions to Dynamics NAV's financial accounting in other areas, such as open item management. Last but not least, field staff traded in their “lug-tops" for modern smartphones and tablets. Fifteen mobile clients in the new version ensure up-to-date integration into the operational infrastructure.
With the new version of Dynamics NAV, the transparency of englisch dekor increased significantly. In the role center, employees now see all relevant Information at a glance. "For me personally, the web client has proven to be particularly useful. This gives field staff and external personnel direct, worldwide access to all important information. At the same time, the management can get a quick overview of the current state of business at any time", emphasizes Mag. Heinz Wymetal-Fleischmann, CEO of englisch dekor.
