COSMO CONSULT announced today the release of an add-on, cc|crm gdpr process and data package, that allows users of Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales to cover relevant parts of Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
In April 2016 – quite unnoticed by the general public – the European Parliament in Strasbourg passed a law that strengthens the rights of consumers: the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation 679/2016). The two-year transitional period connected with the GDPR ended in May 2018. COSMO CONSULT used this period to develop an add-on for Dynamics 365 for Sales that helps companies to follow the new regulations with their IT processes in sales and marketing.

Even though GDPR is a European regulation, it affects companies all over the globe, since every company who needs to communicate with European individuals needs to follow the regulation. Most of the requirements of the GDPR can be best implemented in close cooperation with partners from the legal and technical fields. After all, the due process changes generally concern both fields.
For the cc|crm gdpr process and data package add-on, COSMO CONSULT has enlisted the support of Thiemo Sammern, Managing Director of data.mill GmbH and Bernhard Rastorfer, Division Manager CRM, COSMO CONSULT. Together, COSMO CONSULT and data.mill have designed a package that helps companies to make Dynamics 365 for Sales (formerly Microsoft Dynamics CRM) and a company’s sales and marketing processes GDPR-compliant.
“The GDPR entails a massive need for action in the CRM field. cc|crm gdpr process and data package helps Microsoft Dynamics 365 users to adapt to the new requirements. Work processes and work instructions can now be adjusted to comply with the new data privacy laws,” Rastorfer said. "Right to erasure, for example, can now be done by pressing a button.”
The add-on includes two solutions and covers the following articles of the GDPR:
cc|crm gdpr process and data package by COSMO CONSULT:
- Right of access by the data subject (Article 15)
- Right to data portability (Article 20)
- Right to erasure (Article 17)
- Right to restriction of processing (Article 18)
data.mill’s solution:
- Right to rectification (Article 16)
- Principle of accuracy (Article 5 Para 1 (d))
"The scope and the variety of changes brought on by the GDPR represent a major challenge for medium-sized enterprises, which COSMO CONSULT is helping to address with its cc|crm gdpr process and data package," said Winston Hait, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Dynamics 365. “We are pleased COSMO CONSULT's solution is helping Microsoft Dynamics 365 customers to comply with the GDPR.”
