In this 1.5-hour training course, participants will gain a concise overview of the fundamentals of artificial intelligence (AI) and its practical application with Microsoft Copilot.
After a brief welcome and introduction, the objectives, relevance and historical development of AI will be examined. Why is AI so prevalent right now? What is behind terms such as AI, machine learning, deep learning and generative AI? Another focus is on prompting: how do you formulate effective inputs? What are the risks, such as hallucinations? And how can you meaningfully review and revise results?
Legal aspects are also covered: the EU AI Act, copyright, data protection, discrimination, deepfakes and security risks such as prompt injection are explained in an understandable way. In addition, common fears about using AI are addressed – with examples and answers that help to reduce uncertainty. Finally, we take a look at Microsoft Copilot: What protective measures are integrated? What distinguishes the web version from the desktop version? And how does Copilot work in different Microsoft applications?
This training course is aimed at anyone looking for a sound introduction to the topic of AI – practical, understandable and up-to-date. The training does not include exercises, but there is a final question and answer session.

Learning objectives
Developing AI skills for everyday work:
- Participants will be able to correctly define and distinguish between the terms artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL) and generative AI (genAI).
- Participants understand the historical development of AI and its current social and economic relevance.
- Participants understand the basic principles of prompting in order to formulate targeted inputs into AI systems.
- Participants are familiar with typical sources of error such as hallucinations and know that results must be verified.
- Participants know the difference between web and work copilots.
- Participants are familiar with legal frameworks such as the EU AI Act, data protection and copyright in the context of AI applications.
- Participants are able to critically question the reliability of AI results.
- Participants are aware of risks such as discrimination, deepfakes and prompt injection.

This training course enables you to meet the requirements of the EU AI Act regarding further training and competence for employees who work with AI. A certificate of attendance will be issued after the training course.
The training takes place in a digital seminar room via Microsoft Teams. We will provide you with access free of charge shortly before your training date.
