Beautiful churches, the famous “Koelsch” beer and wild Carnival seasons characterise the fourth-largest city in Germany. Every single day more than 20.000 people pass by to visit the Cathedral of Cologne.

The traditional “Koelsch” beer is understood as a symbol for a social and open-minded society. Served in 0,2-liter glasses it is unique and recognisable all over the world.

Also, the Carnival celebrations are a huge attraction for visitors from many different countries. With more than 1 million fans every year the Shrove Monday Procession is leading the ranking of the largest Carnivals in Germany.

In terms of business landscape, Cologne is determined by a mixture of international corporations and medium-sized companies – often still run by families. Leading branches of the city are the automotive industry as well as the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Moreover, the city is known for its prominent role as the media centre of Germany. Almost a third of the German TV program is produced in the Rhine metropolis only.
