"Production 4.0" - COSMO CONSULT presents pioneering ERP technology at the NORTEC trade fair in Hamburg

The NORTEC trade fair, which takes place every two years in Hamburg, is considered to be the most important platform in Northern Europe for information in the fields of industrial production technology and metal working. Here, spread over three exhibition halls with a total area of ​​27,000 square meters, over 400 companies from all over the world present their solutions for the entire spectrum of the process chain in the manufacturing industry. The focus of this showcase is on the latest developments in metalworking and processing, and on laser, automation and electronics technologies. The trade fair’s extensive program is complemented by the NORTEC Forum which includes lectures from practitioners and discussion panels on current topics in production technology.

The NORTEC trade fair is specifically aimed at medium-sized companies in the manufacturing industry. As a marketplace for production-relevant solutions, it offers SMEs professional advice and information on all aspects of digital transformation with a focus on practical application of “Industry 4.0”, as the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies is known in Germany. As part of this topic, the COSMO CONSULT Group, led by its Hamburg branch, will show trade visitors the latest industry technologies and the ground-breaking COSMO CONSULT Industry 4.0 solution scenario that enables the networking and digital transformation of all business processes using modern, intelligent Microsoft information technologies.

The “Internet of things” (IoT), that is to say the networking of physical entities, plays a central role: COSMO CONSULT demonstrates how real-time data from machinery, components and tools can be captured via tags or sensors in order to sync that data with the planning data at ERP and MES level, to anticipate critical situations through predictive maintenance, and to make the autonomous control of the objects possible. The solution, which was developed in cooperation with the Fraunhofer IFF and well-known industry partners, already implements integrated and seamless mapping of all related processes without any media discontinuities -- all the way from initial customer inquiry, to construction, to commercial and technical project management and object tracking through to billing and costing.

The new technologies in the field of digital transformation are also bringing new dynamics in terms of the market environment and the willingness to make investments. At the same time, according to the current economic data of the VDMA, the business climate is better than it has been for a long time: For the current year alone, the association predicts a record global production increase of six percent.
