Aircraft manufacturer Stemme implements Microsoft Dynamics NAV with COSMO CONSULT

The STEMME AG, one of the world's most prestigious manufacturers of high-performance motor gliders, has entrusted COSMO CONSULT with the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (formerly Navision), including the industry solution cc|configure-to-order. The ERP implementation supports the extensive measures of the aircraft manufacturer from Brandenburg to develop new areas of business in the field of utility aircraft and is one of the key factors in significantly reducing production and delivery times.

Dynamic engine-powered flight and elegant gliding are actually two completely different worlds. A plane that brings together these two worlds, and especially their respective advantages, makes very high demands on the design of the craft, the materials used and on the drive system. Founded in Berlin in 1985, STEMME AG is one of the world's most successful aircraft manufacturers, meeting this challenge with innovative technology and great engineering. The company, now located in Strausberg in Brandenburg near Berlin, delivers its high-end sport aircraft -- especially the classic S10 and the newer S12, a further development of the former plane -- above to all private customers in Europe and the United States. But that is not all: Stemme is continuously moving into new markets, for example in South America, and new market segments in manned and unmanned aircraft in the research and the security sectors.

In order to accelerate the expansion of its existing sports and private aircraft business and at the same time to meet increasing demand in the field of utility aircraft, Stemme's management has launched a number of initiatives that will ensure that the efficiency of the whole company will be increased. The goal is to reduce delivery times significantly and to free up resources to invest in the development of the business. One important component in this is the optimization of internal business processes and the implementation of an integrated business solution that brings together all areas under one roof. This allows for simpler workflows and a smooth exchange of information in financial accounting, design, production and sales. In the search for a suitable system, which naturally had to meet the specific compliance requirements of an aircraft manufacturer, five companies were put on the short list. In the end, Stemme chose COSMO CONSULT's solution based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV with the integrated industry solution cc|configure-to-order and Microsoft SharePoint as a central communication platform.
