Microsoft starts new cloud-based business solution with Dynamics 365

At the Dynamics User Group Summit this year in Tampa, Florida, Microsoft announced its new cloud-based business solution Dynamics 365. The solution, unifying classic ERP and CRM tasks with modern business intelligence functionalities, Office 365 integration and optional applications for specific business and industry requirements, will be made available both for small- to medium-sized businesses and large businesses. With the software-as-a-service model (SaaS), Dynamics 365 enables fast, economical and flexible ERP deployment based on the latest Microsoft technology.

Dynamics 365 carries Microsoft's business strategy consistently forward with a focus on modern business applications that provide intelligent support for work processes, simplify usage and are optimised for mobile application scenarios. Microsoft's cloud platform Azure forms the technological base on which Dynamics 365 can advance as the central platform for all digital business processes. The product combines the classic ERP and CRM functionalities that form the core business processes, from finance to field service, sales, operations, marketing, project management and customer service.

Integrated into the package with Microsoft Power BI, Cortana Intelligence and Azure IoT is a wide range of possibilities for analysing current business and product data. The seamless connection with Office 365 makes it easy for you to continue working on Office documents directly in the ERP environment, thereby supporting mobile business processes and sales activities. Furthermore, Dynamics 365 provides connectors for smooth data exchange with existing business applications.

The scope of functions available with Dynamics 365 can be expanded with separate business apps to meet individual and industry-specific needs. With the "AppSource" online marketplace, Microsoft has set up a portal for companies to obtain apps made available by Microsoft and system partners. The Dynamics 365 apps are designed so that they are fast and can be used independently of each other. "That means you can start small and pay only for what you need", says the Corporate Vice President for Microsoft Cloud + Enterprise, Takeshi Numoto. "Yet they work together seamlessly so, as your business demands, you can grow into additional capabilities with ease." The integration of services works automatically in the underlying cloud infrastructure."

Dynamics 365 is made available in two versions: The Business Edition, which will be ready for Europe in March 2017, is designed for companies with ten to 300 users. The Business Edition is the only end-to-end business solution to encompass all of the processes relevant to business, from financial management and sales and marketing to customer service. Designed for larger companies, the Enterprise Edition will be universally available as early as November this year. The Enterprise Edition includes the latest ERP version of Microsoft Dynamics AX (formerly Axapta), providing additional functionalities for field service, customer service and process automation. What's new is the license model: As well as the usual option of obtaining individual modules or functionalities, Microsoft now enables companies to license role-specific function areas and the grouped functions of employees. This means it is possible to choose the license model that is most cost-effective and best fits your requirements in each case.

"We took a major step forward with the introduction of Microsoft Dynamics 365, to empower business users with built-in insights and intelligence within the business applications they’re working in", says Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella. "The motivating force behind everything we do and everything we build is to empower our customers to make things and make things happen. Together with our customers and partners, we are reinventing business processes for a world where devices, data, intelligence and connectivity can be everywhere."

"The new Microsoft Cloud range has lots to offer to medium-sized businesses in particular", says Uwe Bergmann, Managing Director of Microsoft's leading European ERP partner COSMO CONSULT. "With Dynamics 365, Microsoft has put together solution packages with requirements-based, cutting-edge software technology that is easy to implement. What's more, for us, Dynamics 365 highlights the path down which ERP systems of the future are heading: away from rigid, monolithic business suites towards flexible intelligent tools that actively support employees and open up brilliant new business opportunities for companies."
